Basic Quinoa
Although quinoa should already be rinsed, take the time to rinse the grains in a fine colander. Quinoa has a natural soapy residue, called saponin, that can cause a bitter flavor. Make sure to rinse the quinoa until the water runs clear.
Once the quinoa is rinsed, put it in a pot with a 1:2 ratio of quinoa to water, soup stock or fruit juice, depending upon what flavor your recipe calls for. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce the heat to simmer for 15 minutes. When all of the liquid is absorbed, your quinoa is ready!
